" As the year comes to an end, I ask you to reflect on what OLLI means to you. Our goal is to enrich your life and expand social interactions with learning and new experiences; this fall semester over 190 classes were offered. Your Board of Directors wants to continue this experience and here is an opportunity for you to help. Our OLLI fee is only $45 annually compared to $75 at UNLV and $135 at Chico State. We are able to do this with volunteer instructors and a tight budget. Other OLLI’s charge even more, with both registration fees and individual class costs. Your membership fees and the interest from our endowment are our only revenue sources.
The Bernard Osher Foundation, the benefactor of the endowment, requires each OLLI to conduct a robust fund raising campaign; our goal this year is $35,000 of which we raised only $6400 by mid December. The donations we receive from members become contingency funds used to replace and upgrade our classroom spaces and equipment. In January you will enjoy state-of-the-art AV equipment in Laxalt and Nelson classrooms using such funds.
