Report from June 21 Board of Directors meeting

OLLI's Board of Directors met June 21 in the Nelson Building with President Ralph Jaeck presiding.
  • Ralph reported on possible sale of the Nelson Building. UNR, the City of Reno and the developer, Don Clark are still negotiating. The negotiations are expected to be lengthy and the earliest possible move date would probably be next summer.
There will be a general membership meeting scheduled in September to provide updates on the situation.
  • Warren Ronsheimer reviewed his presentation for UNR on OLLI's current building requirements and future needs.
  • Our 10 year anniversary is coming in 2017. The Curriculum Committee will be looking for keynote speakers and special programs to recognize long term alumni and presenters. Stay tuned!
  • OLLI at UNR is now over 2000 members and still growing. We are one of the largest OLLIs in the country.
  • The Catalog Production Team worked overtime to make sure catalogs for Fall Semester will be out the 2nd week of August. Thanks to EXS Marketing for their support.
  • EXS is working on a new online enrollment system for us to use.
  • OLLI will co-sponsor the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation Program on “Nevada’s Night Sky” in Laxalt on November 5th.
  • Office Staff – with over 2000 members our office staff has a lot to do.  We will be hiring part time students to help answer questions, provide catalogs and application forms and help answer the buzzer.
  • We will be recruiting volunteers to help with semester start-up tasks. You can also help in other ways:
  • Remember to use a “JOB REQUEST FORM” if you need help with printing, copying or other administrative tasks.
  • When your special interest group /ongoing class is meeting, please have someone answer the buzzer.
