Want to help map out what OLLI's future is/should be? The Long Range Planning Committee is seeking a few members relatively new to OLLI to help develop a Strategic Plan. No experience required; just a desire to help create a blueprint for our organization's future.

Help wanted: Fundraising committee
The OLLI Fundraising Committee is immediately seeking members to help develop and conduct a fundraising campaign to equip and furnish the new lecture hall at our new Moana Building.
Funds raised will be matched by private donors to $20,000 (total of $40,000).
Prior fundraising experience not needed, while graphic design and writing skills would be helpful.

Reporters needed for OLLI Newsletter
Join us on Thursday May 4 at 10am in room 206 (Nelson Building) to help plan the August issue of our new Newsletter.

President's Message: 3/1/2017
Of the 119 programs nationwide, our OLLI is the 3rd largest, one of the least expensive and has an exceptionally broad program offering. A significant aspect to our success is that we are a “member-driven organization,” i.e. run by and for its members. To enjoy this success, we are dependent on those members who volunteer and assist in the organizational work. This can be in a small way by providing help with classes or more significantly by serving on committees and in our organizational leadership.
In July we start a new term for our Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee is seeking members to fill both the Vice Presidency and the Secretary positions on the Board of Directors. If you are interested in either position, please email Lynne Gray at VP@ollireno.org.
We are also looking for volunteers for two committees:
--the Newsletter Committee needs writers and photographers to work on a quarterly newsletter to keep members better informed.
--the Fund Raising Committee needs to plan our 2017-18 campaign.

Tours and Travel committee
The Tours and Travel Committee contributes to OLLI's commitment to lifelong learning by organizing and leading tours to local and out-of-town destinations. These destinations are chosen by the committee for their historical and educational interest. We visit a wide range of locations, including factories, fire stations, museums, historical and archaeological sites, university and state capitol facilities, and farms and gardens.
We conduct local tours, which are usually free, where members drive themselves and meet at the tour location. We also organize daylong bus trips to destinations that expand our horizons a little farther afield. Along with learning something new on each tour, we also enjoy the social opportunities of touring with fellow OLLI members.
Committee members have opportunities for personal development in researching, organizing, and conducting the tours. We work with the tour sites, restaurants, bus company, and the OLLI Curriculum Committee to set up each tour. We look for knowledgeable experts to lead and accompany each tour. We also handle the tour reservations, keeping an accurate list and reminding members of their upcoming reservations.
At the OLLI office, the committee maintains a bulletin board of OLLI tour topics, and a table for take-home travel literature and brochures.

Curriculum is the heart of OLLI
Curriculum is the heart of OLLI. We recruit UNR faculty, local historians, OLLI members, and subject experts to present classes. As you can see from the OLLI catalog we offer many interesting and educational classes and programs in a variety of disciplines. Presenters love the OLLI audience because we show our interest in the topic and we ask intelligent questions.
It is our dedicated committee members who do the recruiting. We would love to have new members. Do you know someone who would be interested in presenting at OLLI, would you like to teach a class, are you comfortable following up on leads? We can use you. Other skills we need include data entry, setting up the computer and media equipment, introducing the speaker, and help with editing the catalog.
Our first meeting is Tuesday, February 7 at noon in Nelson Small. Please join us and find out what we are about. Your attendance does not mean an obligation to participate, but you and your ideas and suggestions will be welcomed. Please email ollirenocurric@gmail.com with any questions.

Friends of OLLI meeting on Monday 9/26 at 3:30pm
Friends of OLLI, our organization's fund-raising committee, welcomes members to our initial meeting of the year on Monday 9/26 at 3:30 in Nelson Small to plan this year’s efforts.
Don’t be alarmed; committee members do not actually solicit funds individually, but rather develop plans for a general appeal to members.
2016-17 is an important year because
- OLLI will probably be moving to a new building and will be facing related expenses.
- it's OLLI@UNR’s 10th anniversary and Olli recently exceeded 2000 members, landmarks for the organization.
Friends of OLLI is a small but important committee and an excellent way to volunteer and give back to our organization.
Please join us Monday at 3:30 in Nelson Small and help plan for our future.
